Yoga & Emotional Intelligence
Next to a practical, technical and philosophical understanding of the practice of Yoga, Yoga teachers today require a wide range of inter-personal and intra-personal (emotional self-management) skills to be effective, compassionate guides to their students.
At Yoga Vana, we conduct 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training Courses in India which are accredited by Yoga Alliance, USA.
As a part of the one-month residential course, I have developed and facilitate a module on Emotional Intelligence covering the following subjects:
Understanding ahimsa (nonviolence) in thought and language: theory and reflections
Understanding and evolving patterns of talking to self and others: introduction to Nonviolent Communication as developed by Marshall Rosenberg
Introduction to basic coaching skills in order to guide students in their practice: self-empathy for the teacher, deep listening, offering empathic presence, asking open questions
Self-reflection on one’s personal journey of becoming a yoga teacher: intention, purpose and accountability
